Confirmation Body Requirements

The Accreditation Process

Confirmation Bodies shall be accredited for project validation and confirmation in the sector of the applicable forecast methodology and shall meet the competence requirements as set out in ISO 14065:2007 (or 14065:2013). All Confirmation Bodies must be approved by the Reserve and accredited under ISO 14065 by an International Accreditation Forum (IAF) member body located in the project site country must be used. If none can be found, Confirmation Bodies accredited by the United Nations Framework on Climate Change Convention (UNFCCC) as Accredited Independent Entities approved under Joint Implementation or Designated Operational Entities approved under the Clean Development Mechanism may be used, subject to prior Reserve approval.

To perform confirmation under Climate Forward

To successfully gain approval to conduct confirmation activities under Climate Forward, confirmation bodies and Project Experts must meet the following requirements. Refer to the Climate Forward Program Manual for further information on these requirements.

CONFIRMATION BODY REQUIREMENTS	INDIVIDUAL PROJECT EXPERT REQUIREMENTS
Confirmation Bodies shall be accredited for project validation and confirmation in the sector of the applicable forecast methodology and shall meet the competence requirements as set out in ISO 14065:2007 (or 14065:2013). All Confirmation Bodies must be approved by the Reserve and accredited under ISO 14065 by an International Accreditation Forum (IAF) member body located in the project site country must be used. If none can be found, Confirmation Bodies accredited by the United Nations Framework on Climate Change Convention (UNFCCC) as Accredited Independent Entities approved under Joint Implementation or Designated Operational Entities approved under the Clean Development Mechanism may be used, subject to prior Reserve approval.	Be employed or subcontracted to one of the verification bodies accredited under ISO 14065: 2007 (or 14065:2013) and ISO 14064-3: 2006 (or 14064-3:2019), IAF MD 6: 2009.
Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the Climate Forward methodology and confirmation requirements.	Attended and successfully completed REQUIRED training under the Climate Forward methodologies and manuals. See Confirmation Training for additional details.
Have a minimum of two staff members designated as Project Experts	Meet internal training requirements, following proper processes and procedures under his/her ISO 14065: 2007 (or 14065: 2013), ISO 14064-3: 2006 (or 14064-3: 2019) and IAF MD 6: 2009 accredited Verification Body.
When a new methodology version is released (e.g. v1.0 to v2.0), at least one staff member from any confirmation body working under that methodology must attend the associated methodology update webinar. It is preferred that the staff member be a Project Expert for the project type. Methodology update webinars are free, conducted online, and typically last ~ 1.5 hours. Be identified as “Project Expert” in the Confirmation Staff Reporting form submitted by his/her confirmation body to the Reserve at [email protected].
